The problem is in comment #5 (one file only) where the editor area gets moved
over the right-side toolview-buttons. Thats certainly not supposed to happen
and didn't happen for me when I tried it.

The picture from comment #6 is fine IMHO, except that it would be nice if the
tabbar wouldn't adjust its minimum size to the amount of tabs. But thats
something that would need fixing in kdelibs and/or Qt. If you disable tabs you
can still make the left-side toolview much larger than it is now. 

If you need the project view to take as much space as possible for a certain
action then I suggest to use the maximize-feature of the toolview. Simply
double-click on its title or use the maximize toolbutton in its upper right
corner.
