After the crash was reported I added a commit which automatically create the
builddir if it did not exist before. That is not enough though, configure has
to be run first. Apaku said the whole configuration step should be rethought.

More in-depth explanation to reproduce the crash:

- Import existing project
- give a blank folder as build-dir
- _DONT_ run configure, but go to the project preferences instead and there to
the CMake group

=> lots of error messages because no CMakeCache could be found

- hit Apply/Ok in the preferences dialog

=> crash because m_currentModel could not be found (the assert you see in the
crash).
