I added bug 188176 and bug 188178, the rest of this wish is really more of a
general suggestion, that I can't find a way to split into an individual
wishlist item. The suggestion was to replace the current split view
implementation with something that works like kate. Ideally, this functionality
would be in a common library, but I'm not familiar with what kdelibs provides.
