Andreas, you are right, but:
a) let's take a look what is the best option
b) "duplication" already exists -- esc key
c) stop button takes space (toolbar) and it is outside the pane
d) stop button placed in the pane does not take any (!) extra space, it appears exactly where the user could be looking
e) it is possible to add progress bar this way even further enhance the usefulness of find-in-files (after all you can run really long search, so even roughly ETA would be a help)

Btw. just in case -- I am not opting for removing current stop button :-) I don't think that such "duplication" causes any harm -- after all we see all the time such things -- menus, toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, context menus. There are many ways to achieve one thing.

In this case existence of stop button shouldn't stop adding more fine-tuned feature. IMHO of course.
