I confirm this problem. Though I have this problem also when editing inside correctly \
closed parentheses. 

I experience this for a few month now, upgrading now and then when opensuse provides \
new packages via the build system. Just because of this problem I upgraded to \
3.0.5.7, no change.  The rest of the system is fast, I cannot reproduce the problem \
when using kate standalone. The reaction slows down until you only get about 1 or \
characters per second, typing or deleting. This means its unusable. 

Using kdevelop-3.5.0.7 @ kde-3.5.8 @ opensuse-10.2 & 10.3 (32 & 64 bit)
