I tried to reproduce this bug but it seems to have been fixed in the meantime (I have updated to SUSE 10.1).
Setting a breakpoint correctly works:
(gdb) break /home/tfarago/openttd/music/extmidi.c:103 
Breakpoint 3 at 0x8136076: file music/extmidi.c, line 103

I am using KDevelop 3.3.1 and GDB6.4
