Ok I was using gdb 6.2 but I updated to 6.4 and now it works fine. The requirements list gdb >= 5.0, but this should be changed to 6.4 so that distribution packages (gentoo, debian, redhat, etc) will pull in the latest gdb when kdevelop is installed.
