Ok, the two .ui files and projects are not the same at all. The embedded example is a \
QWidget used as mainwidget in a KApplication and the other is a QApplication that \
does show() on a QDialog. Unsurprisingly, the results are different (but I couldn't \
tell you what they should be, I'm not well enough read up on how maximumSize acts).

Whatever effects you see, I'm confident they aren't a result of embedding the \
designer. Closing.
