I revisited with KDevelop 3.3.1/KDE 3.5.1 and this is still an issue.

Changing the default kdevelop icon to a file/save icon when the file becomes dirty \
does help -- but its not consistent good design KDE principles.

For eg. if you visited a KDE web site with konqui and saw its default icon in the \
tab, would you expect that icon to change because you typed into a form element? No!

That icon should have some relationship to the system's MIME Type/File Associations \
and _do_not_or_should_not_ change when edited.
