Version: 3.2.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

(This could also be considered a Wish, but I'm going with Bug for now.)

I'm trying to use Subversion in Kdevelop, but I don't really see how it's supposed to \
work.

- Subversion support isn't mentioned in Help, only CVS is.

- I have a remote repository. I want to work on those files and commit my changes \
back. It's not completely clear whether I want to "Open existing project" or make a \
"New project".

- I choose "New project". When I get to the Subversion settings I can choose 1) \
"Create a project tree and import new project into trunk" or 2) "Import project at \
given url". I can't fully understand either of those. 1) seems wrong in my case, I \
already have remote files. 2) also isn't right, since there isn't any project yet and \
I don't want to "import" anything -- in Subversion "import" means "commit this bunch \
of new files to the repository", which is _not_ what I want. In my opinion these \
options need work and explanations.

- I choose 2) "Import project at given url". I type the url. Kdevelop shows "template \
for .php files" and over that window another which asks for a "log message". Huh?

- I enter a log message and both windows disappear. Not what I expected. Nothing has \
been commited to the remote repository.

- Kdevelop is now ready, but it hasn't checked out any files. I guess 2) was wrong.

- I try 1). Several more windows asking for log messages without further \
explanations. But still nothing checked out or commited. Which isn't really very \
surprising, since I've never entered username or password to the repository.

Maybe I've completely misunderstood how this is supposed to work. I've been using \
Eclipse with Subclipse (Subversion plug-in) on Windows at work. I can enter a \
repository and then I have it remembered in the repository manager. I can "check out \
(repository) as project" with a lot of options about what I want to check out and to \
where. I can commit and much more and it works very well.

Sorry about the ranting, but I think there are at least a couple of good points in \
the above.
