See bug #97896 for why that option is disabled. 

I agree that the disabled option is the best default, but between the two available \
options, I don't think the one that takes action without user input is the best \
default.

The crash is the real problem, and the one that needs fixing. (Unfortunately, I think \
the main problem is in kdelibs (KDirWatch), not in KDevelop.)

Closing as WONTFIX. I don't think this report adds anything over bug #97896.
