Summary: Wizard generated C++ project does not build on FreeBSD
due to FreeBSD's port versioning policy on auto* tools
(e.g. aclocal18)
Product: kdevelop
Version: 3.1
Platform: FreeBSD Ports
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdevelop-bugs kdevelop org
ReportedBy: ismailp marinestats com
Version: 3.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
Compiler: gcc 2.95.4 compilation phase is not started
OS: FreeBSD
When creating a new C++ project with wizard, the project could not be built, because \
applications installed through FreeBSD ports collection sometimes contain version of \
the port as well. Generated configuration seeks for the tool's exact name (e.g. \
aclocal), but could not find it and could not start building since configuration is \
not yet completed. Instead of one aclocal, FreeBSD may contain multiple versions of \
the port installed at the same time (e.g. aclocal15, aclocal18, autoheader259). \
Making a symbolic link for aclocal to the latest aclocal installed on the system may \
not be a good idea, because I am witnessed auto* tools lack backwards compatibility.
