When i click on logout my linux box freezes ( black screen with frozen mouse cursor ).
No amount of ctrl alt del or backspace work neither do the terminals its totally locked up.

If i switch off and reboot and enter KDE ctrl alt backspace lets me exit to the terminal.

I use Arch linux and i know of people using Slackware who have the same problem too.
