The Kdevelop ctags2 plugin expects a tags file built by exuberant ctags and crashes if the tags file format is generated by some other ctags program. To avoid these problems, run "which ctags" (or find, locate, whereis, etc.) and if a non-exuberant ctags executable is first in your path, move it out of the way and link ctags to your exctags executable (eg. (cd /usr/bin && mv ctags ctags.old && ln -s /usr/local/bin/exctags ctags) ).
