After the folders were seen, a message appeared ..

The folder you deleted was associated with the account POP3 Account which 
delivered mail into it. The folder the account delivers new mail into was 
reset to the main Inbox folder.

Then lots of messages down bottom left corner, about synchronising folders. It 
went through all folders and sub folders, updating the number and number 
unread.
