And the winner is: Me, myself & I

There are things that only happen to ME, don't ask me why.

The issue is sorted: to be able to "speak" with my SMTP server, I need... POP3
useage ! Yes indeed, as soon as I created a dummy account on my mailserver,
registered it in kmail [ID / Incoming / Outgoing], I was able to send with
whatever sending @phareps.org identity I choose, as long as kmail "spoke
earlier", or tried to retrieve something on the dummy account (empty).

The dummy account is configured to autocheck every 60 minutes, that should do
it.

For the record:

- Kmail allow you to configure different POP3 & SMTP accounts, to the extend
you may actually use different systems (ie downloading from one
server/company, sending to another one)

- This doesn't work with some services, they assume identification by the
password protected POP3 account (+ IP maybe ?)

- If you want to send by an un-authenticating server, you probably need to
download from said server as well. This will only be an issue if your ISP
allows you to send via another SMTP service.

Silly. Understandable. Doesn't happen with all mail services.

&& Only happened to me, of course.

Cheers, thanks for the help.
