From kdepim-users Mon Feb 05 16:28:46 2007 From: Robert Morrison Date: Mon, 05 Feb 2007 16:28:46 +0000 To: kdepim-users Subject: [kdepim-users] KMail: Notifications and Watched Threads Message-Id: <200702051028.47053.orbert () orbert ! net> X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kdepim-users&m=117069297406885 I find that I'm missing followups in watched threads. The only thing that I can find to do with a watched thread is to have the thread opened under "Threaded Message List Options;" this doesn't help much, though, in folders where there are dozens of open threads because there are many new messages (or when the watched thread is far up/down in the thread list because it's old). I checked under "notifications," but the only notification that I see is "New mail arrived." The following bug is for knode, but it addresses essentially what I'm looking for; the bug author says: > I'd love to see notifications of two kinds: > 1. A watched thread receives a new message > 2. A thread with my own messages receives a new message http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86150 It's a weird thought, but in this specific instance I'd like kmail to act more like popular forum software: send me email notifications of followups to watched threads. An email notification is ideal because: -- it's persistent (I can ignore it when it arrives but leave it in a place I know I'll find it later); -- it's discoverable (I know I'll see it if it arrives in my inbox, or I can filter); -- it works as well for old threads as it does for new ones. And maybe other reasons. Please let me know if I'm missing something that's present in kmail's current capabilities that can accomplish this just as well. Otherwise, thoughts on this issue? _______________________________________________ KDE PIM users mailing list kdepim-users@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-users
