The levels of trust are only to remind you. Some applications like KMail will 
refuse to use a key for encryption if the trust is not set as high enough. 
For example, if you set the trust to 'Fully' that won't be enough - you'd 
need to make a local signature too.

Maybe you could get yourself a SSL certificate? Thawte, for example, issue 
free mail certificates. The limitation is that your name is not quoted there, 
but only your e-mail. Check out this link:

There shouldn't be any problems in gnome... after all it is the same 
backend...

You can use gpg on Windows - there is such version available from gnupg's web 
site.

As long as you don't export the signatures you've made, you don't have to 
worry. The only 'harm' that such a signature could do is that if someone 
chooses to trust me, only because you chose to trust me.
