Reading Jason's response, it seems kpilot 3.5.5 & pilot-link 12 are problems.  
I've had similar, but much less severe problems recently; calendar entries 
created by duplicating a record on the handheld never make it to the PC and 
are deleted from the handheld.  I am using
pilot-link/dapper 0.11.8-17
kpilot/dapper 4:3.5.5-0ubuntu1~dapper1
Perhaps the kpilot version is causing my problem.
Could you please post the steps for install from svn on dapper?
