Having read the documentation again I decided to postpone the re-installation.
The deciding factor was the statement that at least 2000 ham and 2000 spam
messages were required for reasonable training. As I had been deleting spam
daily, I would need to build a store before I could start again.

It seemed reasonable, though, to attempt to improve matters while I am
building that store, so I edited the cut-off section of /etc/bogofilter.cf
like this:

##ham_cutoff = 0.45			# default
ham_cutoff = 0.25
##spam_cutoff= 0.99			# default
spam_cutoff= 0.77

The ham_cutoff point is that recommended as a start-point in the
documentation. The spam_cutoff is taken from the returned value of

bogoutil -R ~/.bogofilter/wordlist.db

I appear to be getting very good results now, although this is less than 24
hours of testing. If anything significantly good or bad turns up I'll report
back.

HTH

Anne
