You should also be aware that kmail expands the list and writes all the emails 
from this list explicitly into the "to" field in the header. This has two 
side effects, which you may not want:

1. Every member then knows the email adresses of all other members. This may 
break confidentiality.

2. Some mail programmes show the full header, so the recipient will get a mail 
with a long list of names and the actual message only at the end.

It may be better to set up a proper mailing list through your provider, 
similar to this one (kde-pim).

If you don't have the time or possiblity, but have to use the kmail 
distribution list, I would recommend that you put the recipients into 
the "bcc" (blind copy) field of your mail, not into the "to" field. This way 
the emails of all the 2000 people remain invisible to the recipients. (but 
some recipients may not get the message, because some spam filters will not 
like this).
