Overkill. Just set up kmail to retrieve incoming mail accounts to
different folders. I have been using Thunderbird to do this without a
problem. I was just able to start seriously looking at kmail today, but
I am sure that by using identities, you can do it there, too.

It is, but you will be using resources to run both gnome and KDE
