Subject: [kdepim-users] KMail regenerates indexes

Hi,
What causes KMail to regenerate the index files for Maildir folders?
My mail folder is backed up using subversion (my mail directory is a
working copy). The mail files in inbox are version controlled, but
.index* are ignored.
I have a script that automatically commits new mail, but everytime it
runs, when I next switch to a folder (such as inbox) where messages
have been committed causes a pause and disk activity which I believe
is KMail recreating the .inbox.index* files - the reason I think this
is that all the messages have had their attachment icons and such
removed and have two question marks next to them - and the mtime of
the .index* files coincides with the pause and disk activity.

But I can't work out why this is happening - I ran
stat inbox/cur/1127183152.7865.KyM4z inbox/cur/ .inbox.index*
(that being the new file that's added)
before and after running my add and commit script, and stat reports no
changes to any of those files.

As my inbox grows this rebuild is taking longer and getting annoying.
Can anyone help me find out whats causing this?

Chris
