Hi,

Below is a short description of my settings to make
work synchronization through infrared port between my
Palm Zire 71 and a IBM Thinkpad R32 laptop

Linux Distribution: FedoraCore 2
Version: KPilot 4.4.1
Version: pilot-link 0.11.8
Version: KDE 3.2.2-3
Version: Qt 3.3.2

IR port detected as /dev/ttyS1 according dmesg:

ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a NS16550A

Load the following modules:

irda
ircomm
ircom_tty

Then execute:

irattach /dev/ttyS1

Link /dev/pilot to /dev/ircomm0:

ln -s /dev/ircomm0 /dev/pilot

Configure kpilot to /dev/pilot and speed =115200

Restart kpilot and see:

Version: KPilot 4.4.1
Version: pilot-link 0.11.8
Version: KDE 3.2.2-3 Red Hat
Version: Qt 3.3.2

HotSync Log

KPilot has been reported to cause data loss. Please
check with kdepim-users@kde.org.

11:21:47 Starting the KPilot daemon ...
11:21:48 Daemon status is `'
11:21:49 Trying to open device /dev/pilot...
11:21:49 Device link ready.

Then I set up my Palm to hotsync option "IR to a
PC/Handheld"

It works great!
