Dario, thanks for the link to bug 188533.

I've installed the revised scim-bridge package from the repository mentioned in
the thread
(http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/hujq/openSUSE_11.1/, which
installs scim-bridge (/-gtk, /-qt) version 0.4.15-13.3-i586; the most recent
version in the openSUSE 11.1 repositories is 0.4.15-6.1-i586), and now renaming
file names works fine on my system.
