Summary: Kdar - Need to include file verification option
           Product: www.kde.org
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: SuSE RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kde-www kde org
        ReportedBy: alpha096 tpg com au

Version: 2.0.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: 3.1.3
OS: Linux

I backup up my home directory to an NFS drive before a risky procedure and when I \
attempted to recover the archieve the header of the file was intact.

Over 20 years in IT I have seen countless restores fail because the archieve file was \
not verified. The only possible reason to perhaps turn off verification is a working \
system that is changing all the time I.E a mail server.

Without verification being a default option the usefullness of an archieve, because \
of its size and often remote location is ALWAYS questionable.

I have seen too much loss of data and 1 client had 1 months of incremental backup \
useless becuse the file was not verified.

Please include this option with urgency - despite the integrity of the O/S file \
system this option IS desperately required.

If there is a global system file verify option appart from file system standar checks \
please advise _______________________________________________
