Way back in 2005 there was a brief flicker of hope wrt. websites when a
half-dozen people got together to plan and design a website for KDE. That
died out pretty quick, but some of the analysis bits were interesting.
Especially since the site hasn't changed materially since then.

== old stuff

This screenie shows the current website. Click on it for an enlarged view.
I've scribbled some numbers on it, related to problems with the current
layout.

1. It's too long. The number of links (58 by my count) is just so much that
the content including important links falls off the screen, even with a
900-pixel high browser. This means you need to scroll to see if you haven't
missed something that might be important. The menus and links don't help much
to channel your interest.

2. Here's one audience: the people wondering what KDE is and if it might be
useful. The collection of links is a little odd though: Home points to this
page, so it doesn't add anything (it might be useful on other pages).
Announcements are already elsewhere on the page, and are really intended for
another audience, namely that is already using KDE or wants to use it.

3. It's confusing which documentation is which (and I think there's another
documentation link in the developer section). In any case, this is for using
kde.

4. The nature of the different projects is obscure. How exactly are all these
projects part of KDE? These are special resources for particular audiences.
Why aren't the OS-specific sites under Deploy, for instance?

5. Duplicate Information titles, also dupe with the content on the site
itself.

6. How do these two contact links relate?

7. Why have the one blurb short and the others much longer?
