Yesterday a developer posted a new Python highlighting XML to kde-devel 
mailinglist.
Joseph Wenninger said he is going to make a tgz of the enw highlighting files 
and will put it into the download section of Kate's homepage 
(http://devel-home.kde.org(~kate/)
