I also had this problem using cvs from a couple of days ago.  I 
believe some of the hidden .files in the Mail folder had become 
corrupted ?  Being the impatient person that I am I rm -rf 'd all the 
hidden files and then had to reset all of my filters.  You may be 
able to track this down a little further but that seems to have fixed 
the problem for me.  I am not really sure what is going on there 
but maybe that is the place to start looking.
