Le Mardi 22 Mai 2001 23:22, Curtis Rey m'écrivit :
Hello,
I had lately the same problems. So this might help or not:
I use kde from cvs right after the annoncement of alpha 1.1.
Lately i used a lot of "many windows on several desktops".
I also used a new freshly released application , a gtk+ one.
The same problems as you arised: disk usage grows and grows to the
point when, suddenly, a simple operation takes minutes and finally, the
machine locks.
It also happened under blackbox.
So I thought, it's this new programs which has a bug, possibly with my
967 nvidia drivers because it uses a lot of OpenGL.(I didn't take the
chance to upgrade to the last versions).
BUT, as I read your comments, I recalled I was using Konqueror
everytime I experienced this behavior (even under blackbox) along with
this gtk app.
So, wether it's this app, and my comment is useless, or it's
konqueror or whatever is launched with it.
So I'll do a lot of this gtk app under blackbox without konqueror this
afternoon .Then I 'll do a lot of this gtk app under blackbox with
konqueror than, eventually, I'll upgrade my cvs version if it still
happens .
bye.

:-) My question is this - is it X or is it KDE? I agree that it's the
GUI that
:-) is the possible source of the memory leak. I'm curious to find out
from
:-) other users; a) what gui do they use most often, and b) what, if
any, memory
:-) usage do they see be used (is it diminishing at a certain rate over
time)?
:-) This would most likely give a better idea of a possible memory
leaks source.
:-)
:-) Just a thought. Curtis Rey
