I am at the age where brain farts become prevelant and I had one a few hrs 
ago in that I sent an email regarding this problem and kde-2.2alpha1. 

I have installed 2.2alpha but the problem was in kde-2.1.1 not in 2.2, as I 
run 2.2 rarely as it has quite a few glitches in it, but I forgot which one I 
was in at the time. Of courcse I did not check either _'knowing'_ full well 
it was version 2.2alpha I was in, errmm think i'll go lay down for a while.
