I'm not familiar with kap, but assume it is a process monitor like kpm 
or the system guard. This appears to be a bug in those apps like qps. 
Funnily enough, qps itself does not suffer from this. qps is the 
original of kpm but with more features (it actively shows what  sockets 
etc a file is using) and is well woth getting and being a qt app it 
fits right in.
