I have been having trouble with my E-MAIL on prodigy.net
so I don't know if this ever got posted or no so I'll try
again.
Any help would be apreciated.
I down loaded the KDE 2.1.1 binary rpm files and followed the
instructions in the REAME.INSTALL file.
I placed the first group of files mention in the 'README' file in their
own sub-directory and executed a 'rpm -Uvh *.rpm' command. Contrary to
the 'REAME' file, rpm complained that
there were other rpm files needed by this set of rpms.
I then proceeded to move these additional rpms into the same
sub-directory and executed the 'rpm -Uvh *.rpm' command again.
This time I did not get any files/modules missing errors but I did get
the following errors:
file /usr/bin/moc from install of libqt2-devel-2.3.0-2mdk
conflicts with file from package qt-devel-1.44-28mdk
file /usr/lib/libqt.so from install of libqt2-devel-2.3.0-2mdk
conflicts with file from package qt-devel-1.44-28mdk
file /usr/X11R6/bin/gccmakedep from install of
XFree86-devel-4.0.3-1.1mdk conflicts with
file from package XFree86-4.0.1-28mdk
Should I re-execute the rpm command using the '--force' option?
This is suppose to be an 'UPGRADE' to my existing KDE installation.
The set of 'first' rpms I trying to upgrade with are:
+ XFree86-devel-4.0.3-1.1mdk.i586.rpm
XFree86-libs-4.0.3-1.1mdk.i586.rpm
+ XFree86-static-libs-4.0.3-1.1mdk.i586.rpm
XFree86-xfs-4.0.3-1.1mdk.i586.rpm
freetype2-2.0.2-3mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
+ kdelibs-devel-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
+ kdelibs-devel-static-libraries-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-sound-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
+ kdelibs-sound-devel-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
kdesupport-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
+ kdesupport-devel-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
libarts2-2.1.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
libmng1-1.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm
libqt2-2.3.0-2mdk.i586.rpm
+ libqt2-devel-2.3.0-2mdk.i586.rpm
Note: the rpms with the '+' beside them are the ones I had
to add to get the rpm command to stop fussing about missing
stuff.
