I have read some of the other replies to this post but the most common 
causes of this error are as follows;
1/  KDE and/or QT develop rpms not installed
2/  KDEDIR and/or QTDIR variables not set (check with echo $KDEDIR etc) 
or pointed to the wrong place.
3/ KDE and/or QT lib paths not added to /etc/ld.conf.so and ldconfig -v 
run.
In a later post you mention you have makefile.am etc but no Makefile; 
Did you run confugure?
