I recently began using KDE and am having a problem when I try to print in
most of the KDE apps, including Konqueror and Kmail. When I hit the print
icon, it brings up the 'setup printer' window with 'Print to printer' button
highlighted in the 'Print destination' area. There is no printer listed
there and it does not allow me to add my printer there and I do not know how
to get my printer to show up there. I am able to print manually from the
command line and even from kedit, but not from other apps. Kedit does not
use 'setup printer', but uses simple print command filename. I have searched
extensively, and in vain, for instructions on how to get my printer to be
listed in setup printer window, which leads me to believe that it should be
autodetected by KDE, yet mine is not detected. My questions are, Why isn't
my printer detected? and How do I get my printed detected?
Thank you.
