29 ?????? 2000 21:25, Marcelo Camperi ???????:
| I hope someone can help with a post installation problem I am having
| with KDE 2.0
|
| I have a Dell 620 Workstation with RedHat 7.0 in it. Everything
| installed out of the box. No hacking needed.
| I then installed everything else, set kdm to start, and rebooted. kdm
| came up fine, but when I tried lo login, the KDE screen appeared and
| got stuck in "setting interprocess communication"

install OpenSSL >= 0.9.5
|
| Also, kdm would not let me change the desktop manager. Thus, I changed
| to gdm in inittab logging in from another computer.
|
| I changed to gnome, logged in, and tried startkde by hand. I got the
| following error message
|
| >Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of
| >the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based
| >authentication failed
| >kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 1140 result = 0
| >DCOPServer: SetAProc_loc: conn 0, prot=local, >file=/tmp/.ICE-unix/1142
| >kdeinit: Launched KLauncher, pid = 1143 result = 0

Can't help you here. Sorry.
Is Gnome starting for you?
Have you tried KDE from GDM? :-)

| Any idea on what is wrong will be greatly appreciated.
|
| Marcelo

Do you have Arial font installed? Just test it!
