I am not sure if this is where I should ask about this as I am not sure
if it is an installation problem or a bug.
I have installed kde2 beta 5 and have many problems with it. The major
one being that knotify crashes every time I try doing anything. This is
the error messages I get...
DCOP: register 'knotify'
DCOP: register 'anonymous-955'
MCOP Object Manager: warning: cant find implementation for TmpGlobalComm
KCrash: crashing.... crash recursion counter=2
KCrash: Application Name=knotify path=<unknown>
It looks to me from this as if the problem revolves around TmpGlobalComm
but having no idea what this might be I am none the wiser about how to
solve it.
I am running Mandrake 7 with XFree86 4.0.1 if that helps - it was the
Mandrake RPMs from ftp.kde.org I used.
My other problems if anyone can help - I assume they are mainly
configuration problems are that all KOffice apps refuse to load and the
control centre doesn't load either. The mimetypes don't work (although
I see that has been discussed - will try the solution given) and most
apps are missing from my menus.
Neil.
