Such as? KDE2 is supposed to be a complete replacement for KDE1, aside from
some legacy apps that kde2 (or rather qt) won't work with. Once those are out
of the way, you can just trash kde1.

And you shouldn't need any of kde1 specifically (except maybe for some
libraries / headers etc, as well as qt-1.44) to run those older programs under
KDE2.

What does your startkde script look like? It might be attempting to start 
kde1 services as well as kde2 ones.
