I recently installed 2.0beta5 of KDE (using tarball source) and am having
problems with some
graphics. I compiled QT with the flags as specified on the web page (with
gif and jpeg support,
etc) but and having problems with windows and the taskbar. They seem to
always have alternating
grey ans white (or black and white) lines and with popup windows (such as
the kdebug window i get when trying to open "some" jpegs) the alternating
lines make it impossible to read the text. in the K button thing (what are
you calling it anyway?) all i get are the same gray/white or black/white
alternating lines also instead of the grey i should be getting. is this a
problem with the compile? does anyone know if im just missing some graphical
libarays or something?

im running Slackware 7.0 upgraded to the 2.2.16 kernel (recompiled for
ipchains and stuff)
i had the same problem with kde 1.1.2 and that is why i decided to try the
new beta to see if
i could get the graphics to work correctly.

i also installed Xfree86 myself with the source... version 4.x or something
i dont know where to look to find out but it was the newest one about a
month or 2 ago.

any help would be appricated.
