Hey, don't be so touchy :-) In fact, desktop environments which try to match or even surpass functionality of windows will have to use quite some resources. From user reports, it seems KDE does a better job than windows on a same machine (and this mainly thanks to linux's inherent qualities). But it's quite sure that, if processor speed is less important, a fair amount of memory (40M for decent speed) is needed. Yes, KDE-2 is better than KDE-1 in what concerns memory usage and speed. To such a point that I upgraded my old small sparc5 with linux at work from KDE-1 to KDE-2 so that I can get some work done :-) > Thanx though for all of > your help.
