Mike....after a year of netscape, I was forced by netscape's
sudden abhorrent behavior to change to another mail client
yesterday evening. I chose Kmail because it was readily
available (icon on my KDE panel) and because so many of it's
users seem to be really sold on it.

This morning I noticed the same problem as you describe and
went through much of what you relate to try and fix it. here's
what seemed to work.

My folder called kde-user is showing 9 unread files I can't
find so I make a new folder called kde-user. (the same as the
real file but with a period appended). I select all of the
messages in the kde-user folder and then right-mouse-click
anywhere in the selected (blue) area. I choose move and choose
to move to the kde-user. folder. When kde-user is empty I
delete it and then rename kde-user. to kde-user

Finally I go into filters and fix the filter associated with
the kde-user folder as it get redirected incorrectly during
this renaming business. Thats it.

Alan
