Subject:    problem with latest kde cvsup

All of a sudden I'm getting wierd output from configure for
kdelibs/kdebase (these worked before) that I haven't seen
before.

It's telling me that my system can't compile a small kde application
to test the environment, and since this worked before, it must be
a strange problem on your system.

I'm using Linux/egcs-1.1.2. It says something about updating 
binutils. What version should I go to? Currently I am using
binutils-2.9.1.0.4-2, according to what 'rpm' says.
