Hi,

Have you checked to make sure the passwd file is alright
and that NIS services are setup proberly on you machine.
Try ypmatch, yppass, etc, to make sure it's binding
to the NIS domain. I have KDE running on an HP-UX10.20
machine and have no problem with the lock-screen passwd
problem. Another question: is you passwd valid, have a normal
format or expired? If you haven't logged out in a while it could
have expired and then once you lock the screen your locked out.

Also, I'd check the NIS configuration on the box and possibly
reinstall or recompile your version of KDE. Check to see if there
are any NIS options when you do the ./configure.
I got my KDE version precompiled from
a guy at HP so I can't tell you for sure.

Sheldon.
