I forgot to mention as well that I believe that getting parallel port
scanners to work is difficult at best, if possible at all.  USB is
obviously out of the question.  So I think the best way to do it (and
the only way I've ever scanned in Linux) is to get a decent **SCSI
adapter to connect to a SCSI scanner**.

Sorry if this thread has gone off-kde-topic a bit, but I wanted to
make sure that I got all my scanner info out there.
