Yeah.  the workaround is to right-click and select "Zip".  KZip does the
job OK.  If it seems to know it's a tar/gzip file (ie it gives the ZIP
option) but KZip doesn't recognise the format, just make sure it's a
standard filename - .tar, .tar.gz, .tgz, .b2z etc.
