  Sory about this ... it was based on another version of bzip2.
  the curect instructions are.

2 : unzip the bzip2-0.1pl2.tar.gz file and copy the result
  to /usr/bin ( or somewhere else in your path ) bzip2 and
  create a simlink to bunzip2 like this
tar -zxvf bzip2-0.1pl2.tar.gz
cd bzip2-0.1pl2
make
cp bzip2 /usr/bin
ln -s /usr/bin/bzip2 /usr/bin/bunzip2
