What of the idea of Sub session management?

Currently session management allows the user to save an instance of an
application in a Session. What if KDE allows the creation of sub
sessions (Projects?) that contain an instance (Task?) The instance
information (generated by the session management code) of the
particular Task being stored in a directory ~/.kde/share/projects/<some
project name> instead of all bunched into ~/.kde/share/config.

Put a Project option in the the system menu on each window with options:
Project->New
Project->Add Application/Task to Project
Project->Remove Application/Task from Project
Project->Open/Save/Save As/Close....
..
.
You get the idea.

Then have All the Applications/Tasks in a Project show up as a single
Icon in the Taskbar. Or maybe have submenu for that particular Taskbar
button.

Mostly I'm throwing out this idea because it is a "light-weight" way to
move towards a more Object/Component based architecture. It is coarse
grain in that the Component instances are simply currently existing
applications that support X session management. Or can be adapted to
KDE style session management. There is be no real integration between
components....

Also I typically have a bunch of xterm, kedits, and kfm windows that are
related to a particular project open and would like a way to associate
them.

Anyways......

Later,

Mark.
