Well, the unsuspecting user can discover it easily by accident. Imagine a user 
doubleclicking a file icon in dolphin, missing it by 1px. Suddenly, instead of 
opening the double clicked file dolphin will present to the user a totally 
different directory. The user very likely won't even notice it's the parent 
directory, he will just perceive the result as unexplicable, annoying 
behaviour.
