The larger dot is not bad, although as I tried to explain, well-know VCR-like 
vertical lines would eliminate more problems than the dot. In particular, as 
lon as you have all the 4 icons together within the navigator, it's easy to 
guess what's the purpose of the 1st (.<) and 4th icon (>.). If you put icon 
like (>.) alone, it's harder to guess its purpose than (>|) 
(I also mentioned that very similar >* icon is used in other software as well 
for completely different purpose)
