I completely disagree with this.
I think showing what the menuitem will really do IS the good way to proceed, 
when it is possible.

I really like the Show terminal <->hide terminal in Konqueror or Show menubar 
<->hide menubar.

I just click on what I want to do.

If the label says "show", it means there is something so show.
